VHS skateboards

We're loving these retro VHS tape skateboard designs by 5BORO.

Even though we weren’t using them so long ago, VHS tapes seem like devices from a different dimension. The novelty of placing that cumbersome cassette into its slotted space, pressing play and remembering to rewind brings a strong sense of nostalgia to anyone who lived in the pre-DVD days. This bittersweet sentiment has been reinterpreted by skateboard and apparel brand 5BORONYC, which took the VHS cover sleeve artwork and placed it onto a series of decks.

​The graphics are definitely of their time — dated typography and abstract shapes and colours are immediately reminiscent of 1996. The collection of eight designs serve as a throwback to the low-tech times, while simultaneously sending you down the streets in style.
